Our chimney sweep, Chris, arrived punctually and was very courteous.He did a thorough cleaning of our two wood stoves and took pictures along the way to show us exactly how bad our creosote build-up had become despite a cleaning we had done a few months prior by another company.Since we rely on these two stoves as our primary heat source, Chris advised us on a more appropriate cleaning schedule and even suggested a couple of methods to ensure that the wood we burn is adequately seasoned.Some of the companies I had used in the past gave the distinct impression of being alarmist and aiming to up-sell services. By contrast, all of the information Chris imparted was done so in a way that seemed sincere and respectful of the fact that we have been heating with wood for decades and are therefore pretty familiar with how to operate the stoves.We will definitely be using and recommending Midtown Chimney In the future.

Waited a few weeks since my experience to post a review. I had called midtown before Christmas because I needed a chimney cleaning and the company I normally would use would be unable to get out til January 10.The scheduling process was super easy and the guys Dean and Dean (father and son) arrived at my house on time and ready to roll. They attempted to go up through the wood stove to clean the chimney but ultimately had to go down from the roof, they cleaned the chimney, made suggestions on a repair to the crown (and even provided me pictures to show what should be repaired). All in all, it was a very good experience.If I could give 4.5/5 I would. But I had to deduct a half a point for two reasons : firstly, after completing the sweep they deemed they were unable to pull the trap where the spot goes off (and admittedly, it looks like it’s secured to the wall), Dean vacuumed down from the pipe connection into the trap area, however after they had left, later in the evening I tried to gently pull the cap off the trap with the claw of a hammer, and it came without much resistance, opening up a trap still very full of debris from the cleaning. I emptied this into a bucket and it took up about 1.5-2 gallons of a 5gallon bucket. The second issue I had was around the pipe connection to the wall they patched some fireplace cement, and informed me to wait a day before firing the stove so it could cure, I waited two, as it was a pretty thick layer of cement and fired the stove on the third day, the cement had not cured properly and dried weirdly, as such it has separated from the pipe and wall again. (Not a huge deal, and will likely just need a patching in warmer weather months when I won’t be lighting it so it can cure for a long time).All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Dean and Dean were great guys and personable. They did an excellent job cleaning the unit despite some of their cleaning supplies having been frozen. And the price was higher than the company I normally use but fair for the timeliness of their availability.Would certainly recommend this company
